What are recurring journal entries?

Modified on Mon, 21 Nov 2022 at 10:27 AM

Recurrence master templates are used to create a series of recurring journalsIf you have a journal that you want to post, for example, every month, with the recurring journal entries feature, you don't need to create 12 individual journals for the whole year. Instead, you create one master recurrence template. The master template controls how the series of journals are created, approved and posted.

The data from the master will essentially be copied to the 12 individual journals. These 12 journals will be posted, one each month for the 12-month period.

In the example below, you can see:

1. The Header Area where you choose the Document template.

2. The Recurrence Details where you add in the number of recurrences, start date, frequency etc.

3. The Linked documents which shows all the recurring journals and their posting status.

4. The Row data, which will determine the amounts and segment details for each posting.
